Learning a New Language

Learning a new language is a part of adjusting to missions. In preparation for God’s calling, this could be a huge difference maker. Not only is important to adjust to culture, but learning the language can show you are dedicated to showing true compassion and love.

Actions speak louder than words in this situation is a little oximoron, but it holds true. The action of learning a new language can surely show that you are dedicated to His call. This is why I am committing to studying Italian every day. I don’t know how long it will take, but the goal is fluent Italian by the time our family officially relocates to Italy.

What does success look like?

Success will come in the little things. I hope to be able to hold conversations, but right now I am very basic in the phrases and words that I can comfortably speak. Things like Ciao, Salve, Io sono di America. I am sure this will get better with time, but the excitment of learning something new is REAL.

With each little advancement, I find myself giddy with excitment. Learning a new language is difficult, and it takes a lot of time. Especially with this old 33 year old brain. Be in prayer for us as we move from one stage to the next. We will continue to seek God for guidance. One day at a time.
